this is how a new comer to taipei was taught by his 'big brother' who seems to know the rules of the game...yet the ending is so ironic for those who participates...if you are wondering about the name of this movie, i can tell you mahjong does not appear anywhere in the movie...

nothing seems to be changing...no matter how hard he tries, he doesn't seem to get out of his frustrating life...an x wife, two troubled kids, and a dying father...and occasionally being bombed by fast-foods...beautifully directed, this movie shadows the middle age crisis of many...consumed in their everyday livings...
"Easy does not enter into grown up life"
it is his seriously illed father reminds him of his courage to not give up. and he didn't...it is not a happy ending story but it shows a lightly painted rainbow in the gloomy sky...
it's simply "pure"...no added flavour...but full of meanings...

perhaps i'm the only person truly loves this film...it is a tale about edith piah's life...like many other films about an artist's life...but i have never seen such a tale so intensive on the big screen...it shows the tragic, dark side of her without any sympathy...yet her happiness is just like a spark...disappears into nothing before she notices it...like a toy...being taken away before she even has a chance to get on hold of it...the last smile on her face is the only thing that completes her life of pink...

i didn't realise this is a new movie to be screened in austrlia in july! this is definitely one of the best movies about world war 2. the plot, directing, screenplay, acting...everything is perfectly done! the most interesting thing about this movie is, it takes a very different, in fact a completely opposite angle to how we look at the war...a "must see"!

perhaps i don't understand about this movie enough to make a comment on it...but this is one of the most powerful movies out there! violence, drugs...friendship, betrayal...destruction, hope...and the whole thing about growing up...this is the City of God...or is it the reflection of the whole world?
也许我还没有资格评论些什么...不过这是其中一部最有震撼力的电影！暴力，毒品...友情，反叛...毁灭，希望...还有成长...这就是天主之城...或是世界的缩影？

a simple plot with a fine touch! although teen movies r nothing new, this one managed to do a damn good job in blending the laughters and tears...the seaside town scenery adds a refreshing flavour to it...by the way, if u have watched it, don't u dream of owning an aquarium like that?! i could spend hours sitting there looking into the tank...
